Blessed Evening

Last week we had the privilege of spending dinner with one of the most wonderful older couples in our church family. They are the most encouraging, joyful pair we have ever met. Without fail, every Sunday, they come up with a hug and a kiss and let us know how grateful they are for us and how truly gifted John is in music and worship, which we don't often hear from older couples. We had the honor of sitting, sharing a meal and listening to their journey through life so far. They have quite a story to tell and so much wisdom to give. John and I have waited for this moment for a long time!
We shared with them where we are right now in our journey and our hopes for a clear destination and purpose, but as we listened they reminded us that it really is not the destination that we need to dwell upon (not speaking eternally) but the journey it takes to get there. That is our story! That is where Christ teaches, trains and equips us, on the road!
It has given me a true sense of peace and joy in realizing that where we are right now is exactly where we need to be for this season. That though it may seem like this season is long and feels never ending....it is only for a season :) Praise God that we do not have to worry about our future but that we focus on our present and He will take care of the rest!
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5

Silly Week with Family

We had such a good week with John's sister Becky and her beautifully large family :)
Me being "Miss Anal MeGee" learned to let the mess go and enjoy the time with family. My boys are at an age where they truly love being near their cousins. Today I found Jack wrestling (gently) with Jonah in the bedroom which was so sweet to watch. Caleb is obsessed with Naiah, which is a little weird but at this age is completely innocent and I was able to play and interact a lot with all of them. We did so many fun things together (tractor rides, park days, chuck e cheese, movies, bounce house, bike riding, zoos, baseball games) and Aunt Becky took so many pictures, that I hope to get a copy of (wink wink)! I truly wish they lived closer (meal time is way more fun). But we have to say good bye tomorrow in hopes we will see them soon. I thank God for family and the bond that He created to be so natural and sweet (unlike these pictures)

You are welcome Becky & Susan, that I didn't post your funny face pic :)

Family Fun!

Today we went to the Zoo! It was such a nice day to go to Santa Barbara :) Most of the animals were actually awake and visible which was a big shock! It was good family time.

Benefit For Erik

One of John's buddies that he plays a lot of shows with was injured in a snowboarding accident, so they put on a benefit for him last night at JJ Brewsky's in Camarillo. It looked like a big success, I wished I hadn't taken the boys with me (they were bouncing off the walls)but it was a very successful night!

KIDS ARE HERE!

So John's sister Becky and her 5 kids are in town this week! My boys have never been happier. I don't even see them for half the day cause they are off playing. They are having such a good time with them. The house gets messy fast but all the laughter around here is totally worth it:) So far the only shots I have gotten are of Little Ella. More to come I'm sure!

Enjoying Ojai

Friday evening we decided to get out and do our monthly family hike. We took a stroll on the meadow trail near Nordoff. I didn't expect much but it turned out to be a beautiful walk. We found lots of spots for photo ops :)

Girl's Game Night!

So some friends of mine and I have been meeting up about once a month at our friends Michelle's to have a "Girl's Game Night"! It's lots of fun. We started with "Skip Bo" and "Speed Scrabble" and have moved on to "Nerts" and "Black Magic :)". It's a really great night of fun and fellowship with Sisters In Christ. Last night all the husbands got together and did "guy things". I have been praying for more opportunities to fellowship and invest in relationships outside of our church walls and I am so grateful that we have started this. ALL ARE WELCOME! The more the merrier...especially cause we would love to start a bunko group of our own:) Let me know if you want to join!!!

Big Boy Bed!

Friday night john and I decided that since Caleb is doing so well being a big boy and using his big boy potty...that it was time to move him to a big boy bed (single tear). He loves it! He got to help daddy build it and then we shared story time in his bed that night. We tucked him in and put him to sleep.

clubhouse

Friday morning Caleb, Jack and his bible study friends all got together and played at the "Clubhouse". It is this very cool indoor play area. It's got jolly jump, slides, toy houses, train tables, toy cars, all kinds of stuff. It has an area to eat lunch and purchase snacks! It also has computers so parents can check email while the kids play. Most of us were far too excited to play with our kids then to go online but it's nice to have the option!

jack was pretty zoned out by the end of the trip!
