Block Party!

Since John and I have been home from Uganda God has really laid on our hearts the thought that we need to be ministering no matter where we are, mind blowing right? For some reason it seems so easy to "go" somewhere and be bold with the love of Jesus....but to do it on our own street? To share Christ with a neighbor? They will think we are crazy? We'll be shunned!!
We began to pray and ask God to open our hearts to ideas of ministry. We felt like the first thing to do was to meet everyone! Novel idea I know!
So we decided a Block Party was ideal!

We spent a couple days going around, knocking on doors, and letting people know about the event!
It was awesome! People were so excited about the idea! They open their doors to us, shared about their lives, and began the first step in "getting to know your neighbor"
The day came and John and I began to feel very nervous. We were not sure how it was all gonna go....what if people bring alcohol, or kids show up and get to loud and rowdy and the cops get called, we didnt have a permit, what if no one shows, or it gets awkward and we have to initiate ice breakers or something!
So much prayer had gone into this day and we knew the Lord was in control! We also knew Satan wants nothing more then to make us second guess everything. GOD REIGNS!
The event went off without a hitch. Everyone engaged in everyone! We all got to meet and chat, eat, share recipes, tips for gardening, and even ideas for our next event.
John and I had already discussed doing garage door movie nights, some women brought it up at the party so we knew that was confirmation to get it goin! We are so grateful that our God chooses to use us to further His Kingdom and to draw others in. We pray for God's Mighty hand upon Lark Ellen and Gregory street. That the Holy Spirit would begin preparing the hearts of our neighbors to hear God's Word and to live for Christ!

Happy Father's Day 2010

Daddy,
We just want to to say thanks! Thank you that you get up extra early to make sure you get time with Your Heavenly Father, Thank you for getting us up every morning with a smile on your face even when you are dreading the day! Thank you that every morning when you leave the house you make sure we all get a big hug and kiss. Thank you for going to a job you are not truly passionate about just to care for the needs of your family. Thank you that even after a long hard day you always want to know about our day, you enjoy spending time talking at dinner, that you make sure we get in our wrestle time, our treasure hunt, that you get on our PJs every night, and that you love to read and pray with us! Thank you for all the dance parties in the car and living room! Thank you that you remind us just how much God loves us and how He has a big plan for us! Thank you that you are honest about your shortcomings. Thank you that you are so patient when you discipline us. That we always talk about how we can learn from it and move forward. You never lose your temper, you never raise your voice. You love to snuggle, love to teach us new things, love to dig for bugs, love to teach us something new about God's creation, love to take us on bike rides and just talk about Jesus!
Thank you that you love our momma. That you call her several times a day to check in on her. That you are patient with her even when she has had a hard day and takes it out on you. Thank you that you are willing to let her go to bed early and put us to bed even when you are exhausted. Thank you that you step in and discipline when she just can't take it anymore. Thank you that you will get up in the middle of the night if she is "just too tired". Thank you that you open every door for her, that you hold her hand in the car, that you cuddle with her the first chance you get. Thank you that you would rather be home with us then out doing anything else! Thank you for another year of being our example of Jesus in our home! WE LOVE YOU AND BLESSED TO CALL YOU DADDY!

self sufficient

The boys went crazy after their nap...chasing each other around, screaming, tickling me...so when I got a phone call I locked myself in the bathroom to finish the conversation.
When I came out I found Jackson doing this at the table

willy wonka

Yesterday I was doing dishes and Jack comes in from the backyard and says
Jack: " We are at the candy store!"
Me: "We are? Okay....so what'll it be?"
Jack:" Sponge Bob cheeseburger" (its a candy)
I pretend to hand him his candy and he pretends to pay for it, he then precedes to look at his empty hand and raise it up to me and ask " Can you open it?"
Even in this kids wildest imagination he cant even open the wrapper to his own candy!! I LOVE HIM!
